Reiki is a gentle and non-invasive energy medicine therapy, typically administered through the hands of a provider. The Japanese characters (kanji) that form the word "Reiki" can be translated in a number of ways. Some common translations are "Spiritual Energy," "Life Force Energy," and "Universal Energy." During a Reiki session, the relationship is between the receiver and the energy itself; the practitioner is only supporting this relationship by helping to connect the receiver to the Reiki. There is an increasing worldwide body of research supporting the effectiveness of Reiki therapy. Reiki therapy is not (yet) covered under any health insurance plans.
